About Saints At War
The Saints At War Project is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Latter-day Saint service in various military conflicts from 1830 to the present day.
Robert C. Freeman is a Professor of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University. He has been a member of the full-time faculty since 1996. His key areas of teaching and research relate primarily to 20th Century Church History. He is Director of the Saints At War Project which was initiated in the year 1999 to conduct research into the experiences of Latter-day Saints in wartime. He and his wife Ja Neal have seven children and live in Springville, Utah.
In 2005, Dr. Ken Alford became involved with BYU’s Saints At War project while serving on active duty as a professor and department chair at the National Defense University in Washington, DC. He became the lead Saints At War researcher for post-Vietnam military conflicts in the fall of 2008 when he retired as a colonel in the U.S. Army and joined the BYU College of Religious Education as a full-time faculty member.
Saints At War is now inviting veterans and civilians to share wartime accounts from any of the modern conflicts. We need your help to preserve history. Make a submission here.
